On behalf of the Organizing Committee, it is our great pleasure to welcome you to ICTPC’13, the International Conference on Tobacco Prevention and Control, to be held from 14 to 15 November 2013, and to the beautiful and cosmopolitan Lisbon, one of the most ancient cities of the world, full of historic landmarks and cultural tradition, along with several modern and vibrant places. The conference is organized by the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon (FMUL) and the University of Minho (UM). The conference venue will be at the Faculty of Medicine, located in the campus of the University of Lisbon.
One of the main goals of ICTPC’13 is to bring together a multi-disciplinary audience of academics, scientists, health professionals, public authorities and officials, non-government organizations, media professionals, policy advocates, decision and opinion makers, youth, and all the relevant stakeholders with interests in prevention, cessation or research, and committed to building a tobacco free world.
Conference participants will review, discuss and share the latest evidence on what works in tobacco control, will learn practical ways and exchange experiences to improve research approaches, to strengthen treatment protocols, to renew their commitment to tobacco control, to establish international collaborations, and to encourage continued positive and effective policy change of tobacco control measures. The Scientific Program of the ICTPC’13 is designed so that each day has a special focus, determining the subject of the keynote presentations, although the daily programs of the parallel sessions may be structured based upon the MPOWER model.
Your participation and interaction will contribute towards making this conference a truly memorable experience and enhancing our endeavor to improve tobacco prevention and control. We are also confident that with the support of the excellent panel of experts that have been invited as speakers or members of the Scientific Committee, the scientific quality of the meeting will be outstanding.
The ICTPC’13 will also provide an opportunity for networking and socializing. In addition, the city of Lisbon, one of the most soulful, captivating and picturesque European capitals, built on a series of hills with scenic vistas from every angle, offers great opportunities for recreation or walking around, either before or after the ICTPC’13.
We look forward to welcoming and hosting you in Lisbon in November 2013, and sincerely hope that you will join us to make this endeavor a success.
